Distribution and production company
Distribution Company
A distribution company needs to have an effective logo that gives the impression
that the film is being put out across the globe and displayed to everyone in
the world. This is how we want to portray our distribution company; simple, memorable and puts our message of a universal film across.

'Universal studios' is a classic well-known distribution company. Their company is effective because it main feature is a glowing globe; it shows how their films are worldwide and reaches many different origins of people.
For example, 'Universal studios' was the distribution company for the film 'E.T' - a world wide known film.

'Paramount' is a great example of a distribution company that puts across the message that their company is a widespread corporation; the mountain above the clouds gives the impression that it is looking down on the Earth and displays that this distribution company is known worldwide.
For example, 'Paramount' was the distribution company for 'Star Trek into Darkness' - a widely known franchise. |
Production Company
A production company has to relate to the film genre it is representing; as our opening title sequence is horror, our production company needs to make some sort of reference to death, blood, etc.

'Blumhouse' productions is a great example of a production company that links to a specific sub-genre of horror. 'Blumhouse' is typically made for paranormal horror films and is shown in their production company. 'Blumhouse' has produced successful films, such as 'Paranormal Activity'. This made us realise that our production company had to link to our sub-genre of a classic monster, so we are going to use the idea of a flat line monitor as it relates to an alive being and death. |
We thought that the production company 'Hammer' had an effective logo as they have only used the colours black and red; both of these colours have connotations of death and blood so therefore link to the horror genre and keep the attention on the actual film that they have produced.
'Hammer' productions produced the classic film 'The Curse of Frankenstein' (1957), which we took as an inspiration for our own horror - the 'classic monster' horror. |
