Question 4: HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?
The first form of new media technology that we used in the construction, research, planning and evaluation is Weebly, this was the most important part of technology we used to create and finish all of our coursework. Putting on buttons on the site was important because they were another way of navigating around the site as it allows the users to navigate easily and efficiently. We needed to place images on most pages as without them it was a very interactive experience for the users on our website. They were just usually there for decoration, but sometimes they can be used as links to other sites for example to a distribution company or to IMDB to look at information on other films. We also used Weebly so that we create our theme for example having a bright coloured theme with the main image throughout the website being a golf ball as this goes with the theme of Bipolar. Videos needed to be uploaded to YouTube before I could get them onto the website. Weebly was a great form of technology as it met our needs to create and finish Bipolar and helped us construct, research and plan. In the screencast below we have demonstrated how simple it is to create a page on Weebly and how to add in text and images. All you need to do is follow the steps in the video and then drag in what you want from the toolbar on the left hand side and drag it in to main area.
The next section is about Photoshop, which is the programme that we used to make our poster and magazine. It meant that we could create a high quality poster and magazine to give off a professional effect to the viewers, also using photoshop was the best possible option as it allowed us to change our poster and magazine a lot and customize it to the way we needed it. Adding text was very important, for the poster needed all the writing on the bottom of it and the magazine needed test, so that the audience could know what was in the magazine and what the magazine was called.
Adding shapes meant that there could be some excitement on my magazine. the shapes can be used to highlight different words, and it is used as a pug in the corner of the magazine and give off a better image to the customers/viewers.

The final form of media technology that we used that was crucial in creating our project 'Bipolar' was Final Cut as this was the software we used which allowed us to edit all of our footage and finish our trailer, this software was really useful as it allows to crop, cut and trim all our footage down to finish the project and make sure it fits into the horror genre as the editing on final cut actually added the final touches to make the actual project scary. Also in the video below of us recording our screen to simply show you how to add a transition onto a video clip on Final Cut showing you how simple it is to use and how much is helped us to create a professional trailer for our A2 coursework.
YouTube was an important tool we used in the planning stages of our trailer as we were able to look at professional, existing trailers. These trailers were able to inspire a lot of choices made before making our trailer including specific shots, sound choices and the structure of the trailer itself for example we found the Reservoir Dogs (1992) trailer which inspired certain shots in our final scene including the scene in which a victim is dragged from a car and when one of the killers is helped through a door after being wounded. YouTube also was helpful for research as YouTube gave us a big understanding on what aspects of trailers are popular as YouTube allows user to like or dislike videos and leave comments, we could also look at the viewing figures of certain trailers which could give us an understanding of the popular sub-genres within horror. YouTube was also used a lot during the construction of our final trailer as it was helpful for finding royalty free music which could be extracted and used in our trailer also the authentic trailer disclaimer was extracted from YouTube to give our trailer that professional feel at the start. In the video below all you need to do is follow the steps and opening up YouTube and being logged into your account and going to the top right corner of the screen and press upload and drag it in any clip you want to upload to YouTube and add a title.
In conclusion we have learnt lots of techniques in the production of a trailer, poster and magazine. All of the technology we have used can be used again, and without the software and technology that we used, we could not have finished our products.
